Composed of a group of rural buildings surrounded by stretches of green and small rivers, the natural haven of the Borgo del Maglio di Ome is the ideal place for a family day out.
The Borgo del Maglio has two separate museums:
Museo Il Maglio Averoldi
A 15th century forge powered by a water wheel that is still in operation today, demonstrating the ancient techniques of forging iron.
Pietro Malossi House Museum
The house museum covers two floors and displays a private collection of a variety of cultural objects, including in particular those of the antiques collector Pietro Malossi and some works by the engraver Francesco Medici.
From from arms to furniture, prints and paintings, antique books, coins and sculptures, visitors can admire objects from the past and the skilled craftsmanship of their creators. The tour includes information panels and audioguides.
The Borgo del Maglio di Ome has a large car park, a café/bar and a hostel.
For info and opening hours, see the official website of the Fondazione Malossi.
