FortAnfo, the largest Napoleonic fortress in Italy, reopens for guided tours.
Every year in spring guided tours are back at Fort Anfo, the large fortress perched over Lake Idro!
In continuous redevelopment thanks to the unceasing work of associations and volunteers, the fortress can be visited from April to October through three different routes:
- Napoleonic Tour, a guided tour of about 4 hours, which will allow you to visit the entire fortress;
- “Dalla Serenissima al Regno d’Italia” tour, a 2.30-hour guided tour to discover the Venetian part of Fort Anfo and Batteria Tirolo;
- Short route on your own, to enjoy an easy walk of about 2 km from Zanardelli Barracks to Batteria Tirolo.
The hike requires proper equipment. In the case of longer tours, you can stop for a cozy picnic while enjoyng breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains!
