Desenzano Castle: once a medieval fortress, now an artistic and cultural venue
Built in the 10th century overlooking the town, the castle of Desenzano today hosts exhibitions and events.
What remains of the old castle has been restored over the years and opened to the public. Visitors can walk the patrol path, climb down the spiral staircase to admire the old cannon openings and climb up the central tower to reach the panoramic observation point, from which to enjoy stunning views over Lake Garda, featured in thousands of Instagram posts every year!
Just as popular are the temporary exhibitions organised from time to time in the courtyard or in the exhibit rooms, and the range of summer events, which include the open-air cinema.
